What’s new in 2016?

The National Not-for-Profit Sector Conference is two days jam-packed with fresh ideas and thinking that puts you at the centre of the conversation about strengthening NFP organisations and the NFP sector. We’ve prepared a programme full of inspirational presentations and practical workshops focused on building your knowledge and skills. We will also talk about sustainability and the speaker line-up will challenge your ideas about the NFP of the future.

Innovation, the topic for day one, will challenge the status quo in the Not-For-Profit sector and present fresh ideas that are starting to emerge and gather strength. We will spotlight smart, innovative Not-For-Profits that are finding new ways to connect with partners and their communities in order to build stronger organisations. We will look at new ways of funding that step away from the dependency cycle and breathe on their own.

Powerhouse, on day two, is a serious learning day. We bring you three key streams of thinking facilitated by sector experts that cover The Strategy, The People and The Money. We recommend that delegates choose to do deep learning within a workshop stream to build skills but are free to jump within streams if they prefer to gain a wider overview.

Networking Function

They say that the most rewarding parts of a conference happen in the “bump zones”. We have a great community of delegates, and we welcome the opportunity to get you all together for an evening so you can network and get to know like-minded people in a less formal, social way.

And, just in case you’re starting to think it all sounds very serious and you’re wondering where’s the FUN???  – we are introducing Circability to the mix to shake you up and give you the giggles.

This  conference is a unique opportunity to present a new way of being a Not-For-Profit. You may disagree with some of it. You may love some ideas and get into huge arguments about the validity of others. The speakers will make you think, evaluate and take a step into some unknown territories and we hope you will be inspired by what you find there.  We believe that the speaker line-up is seriously good –  made up of practitioners, board members and big-thinkers who will dare you to be honest.

Most importantly, there will be an extensive exchange of ideas leading to a shared understanding of the most promising and critically important directions to achieve financial security and sustainability in the Not-For-Profit sector.  Not-For-Profits need this change to continue to make a positive difference in their communities.

Day one – Innovation – has keynote speaker Matthew Tukaki as a highlight.  Matthew is the chair of the National Coalition for Suicide Prevention, Australia and has strong experience of the NFP sector in New Zealand, Australia and further afield.

We have thought leaders examining the results of research into innovation in our sector.

Wendy Becker from Enrich will explain what happens when your NFP purchases a commercial business and how this can integrate with your mission as a non-profit. Award-winning CEO Lisa Woolley from VisionWest will take us on an in-depth look at community and her approach to place.

Mark Daniels looks at social entrepreneurship and social procurement, and how this is working for NFPs across the world. There are also interactive workshops to select from to keep you sharp.

Day two we have called Powerhouse, as this is the day to put your innovative ideas into a structure that may form a solid base for your future.

We open with a keynote from Murray Edridge, the Deputy Chief Executive for Community Investment on how you should position yourself for the new funding future…. and the workshop streams build from there.
